bearings aren't coated in ceramic material. they care coated in a dry film lubricant. Its moly based and absorbs/retains oil film on the surface area. It also withstands an exceptional amount of pressure which makes the coating great for bearing surfaces.
As with any coating and bearing, they never hold up under detonation. Good oil clearance and a proper tune coupled with quality coatings will absolutely show improvements in product life and mechanical use. I coat all of my engine bearings in house with DFL1 dry film lubricant. Its a great coating and worth the effort in having done to your bearings while going through an engine build. I charge $75 to coat mains and rod bearings as a kit. I also supply clevite/king bearings for $100. Right now though during the holidays (till the end of the month) I am offering a 25% discount on all coating services.
